WARNER

Myrtle Warner

Nominated by: Delphia Mitchell

Mrs. Myrtle Warner is not only an inspirational survivor, but she is also my hero (female hero).  This 8 year survivor is my hero because she has shown me what a beautiful, strong, God-fearing, black woman living with breast cancer looks like, because I too am a survivor.  Her fight against this disease has paved a way for my battle against it.  She was the one who took me and bought me my very first wig after losing all of my hair to chemotherapy.  After every completed chemo cycle, she made sure she mailed me an encouraging card telling me how proud she was of me.

After my very last chemo visit, her card read "CONGRATULATIONS! You did it!"  I want her to know that we did it!  Here I am 5 years later and the cards, support, and love she has shown me over the years has not ceased.  She will never know how she has touched my life, and how she has made this journey so much easier by traveling with me.  I pray that I can be to someone else everything she has been to me.  For all of this and much more, I am truly grateful.  This is why she is my hero, my Godmother, my INSPIRATIONAL SURVIVOR!
