Karen MillerKaren Miller endured polio as a child and the polio returned as an adult, necessitating wearing a leg brace for over 20 years, progressing to needing a cane and now sometimes a wheelchair. In Nov. of 1995, Karen suffered a lumpectomy and radiation. This year the cancer returned, resulting in a mandatory mastectomy and elected double mastectomy. She goes to the Hallmark store each month and buys cards for all she knows in need of remembering. She was instrumental in bringing a columbarium to her church. She works in South Dallas distributing food to the needy. She opens her home once a month for Bible study. She celebrates her 2 children and their spouses and her 2 grandsons and other extended family on all special occasions. She has a devoted husband and together they care for many with calls, dinners, rides, whatever if needed. Karen is a true blue friend and blue is her favorite color. Karen shows us how to live life each day by her spirit of taking action and going for it. She and her husband David live with a strong faith in God which they exhibit daily. Karen has not let breast cancer take away her joy of living. |
