Lynda DyerLynda is a beautiful, animated person. You would never dream she has gone through serious breast cancer, surgery, reconstruction, chemotherapy and other chronic health issues. She looks vibrant and inspires the lives she touches. We were in a Garland Breast Cancer Support group together through Baylor two years ago, and when that began to fall apart, it was Lynda that would not allow it. She spearheaded the formation of our present group, New Life New Hope, and is the heart of it. Lynda constantly comes up with new ideas to keep the meetings interesting and informative, and having the love and respect of countless people in Garland from her many years of living here; she has stimulated interest in the support group as well as financial backing. She took time to be trained as a Reach to Recovery Volunteer so that she could add one more dimension to her outreach approach. She single-handedly visited our Garland doctors to tell them about our support group, sharing information and soliciting guest speakers. Lynda is an inspiration to others who are newly diagnosed, as they can see first-hand that they too can make it through the hard days, emerging as a beautiful, functioning and productive person. She shares her faith and knowledge with others, and encourages them to do the same. She is a blessing in my life, and makes me want to try harder to reach out and help others through this walk no one asks to take. |
