CLAY

Donna Clay

Nominated by: Cissi Scott

Donna Clay is 36-yrs. old and a 2-yr. survivor and I have known Donna since she was 15-years old.    "She has always been inspirational, even before her diagnosis. She was diagnosed 5/23/06 at the age of 34. She is married to a wonderful man, Ryan and has a precious 4-yr. old daughter Emma Kay."

She is involved with the Komen North Texas Affiliate and is serving on the Grants Committee for 2008. She also volunteers at the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Carrollton. She spoke to a large group of women MOPS (moms of Preschoolers) in Rockwall, on the importance of early detection and awareness and the Komen N. Texas Race for the Cure. She also promotes Here's to a Sweet Recovery.org. She teaches pre-school-age children at Prestonwood's Christian Learning Center in Plano for the 2008 school year. She is actively involved and very passionate about recruiting for fundraising during the Race for the Cure, both Plano and Dallas events each year.

Donna's number one priority is being a healthy loving Mom to Emma Kay!  Her second passion is helping other young women walking this journey to know they are not alone! She organized a group of "young" survivor women she met during her months of treatment and recovery. They began to get together once a month? It started in March 2008 and they are now known as "Hot & Spicy Chang Gang"!  They are HOT for a CURE and lots of SPICE for LIFE! They meet once a month on a Sunday at PF Changs. Donna is the team captain for the Hot & Spicy Chang Gang team this year for the 2008 Komen Race for the Cure on Oct 18th.

I have witnessed her vivaciousness, love and caring for these sisters of survival.  She is such a blessing to anyone who knows her. She has shown such dignity, grace and compassion for her newfound friends.  She is to be honored for her light shines so very bright to everyone who crosses her path of life.
